II-V-I-VI Tutor
Introduction
This site provides interactive display control of guitar voicings for the II-V-I-VI chord progression, with fingering charts that display the chord functionality of each note in the chord. It is based on the article 20 Ways To Comp II V I VI Chord Progressions by Dr. Matthew Warnock.

Some of the voicings will be familiar from the II-V-I Tutor. Others are characteristic guitar fingerings. Many are arrived at through various types of voice leading or chord substitution.

It is highly recommended to refer to Matt's article while working with this site to get additional insight into how the voicings work and alternative methods for deriving the chords. Some of these chords are difficult to name, so the chord symbols shown above the fingering charts are just basic guides.

The 20 examples can be traversed in forward or backward order by selecting the Next or Previous buttons, or any example can be directly viewed via the left side navigation links.

In the spirit of Matt's article which suggests building your own voicings this site shows several alternatives to the original voicings.
